CITING TWO INCIDENTS IN FIRST TWO DAYS OF SCHOOL IN BROOKLYN HIGH SCHOOLS, CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATE JOHN QUAGLIONE SAYS BULLET PROOF VESTS NEEDED FOR SCHOOL SAFETY OFFICERS
Brooklyn – New York City Council candidate John Quaglione (R-43rd District), who has been endorsed by more law enforcement unions than any other candidate in the race, today is calling on Mayor Bill DeBlasio and the NYPD to outfit school safety agents with bulletproof vests, following a gun found in a Brooklyn high school and a false report of a gun in another high school causing a full lock down on the second day of school.
“Day one, gun one in New York City Public Schools. Day two, lockdown due to the false reporting of gun two. I am calling on Mayor Bill de Blasio and the City Council to authorize funding to purchase bullet proof vests for School Safety Agents in the interest of protecting all. I believe this is a key investment that will go a long way in protecting our school communities,” said City Council Candidate John Quaglione.
“A School Safety Agent is the first line of defense in a school building, and making sure we protect them, so they can guard our students, teachers and school staff, must be a priority,” said John Quaglione, who will request a seat on the City Council Public Safety Committee when elected.
Quaglione will work with the community, through participatory budgeting, and to fund the purchase of bullet proof vests for School Safety Agents in the 43rd Council District.
