Meet John


John Quaglione, a lifetime resident of Bay Ridge, married his wife Kerry in August 2009.  Together they have two daughters,  Natalie and Olivia.

John believes in the greatness that is our neighborhood and is looking to further dedicate himself to the needs of our business, school and civic communities, as well as to the needs of local families. He is a graduate of the Public School 48, the Genesis Program, Adelphi Academy and was awarded a B.A. in Political Science from American University in Washington, D.C. in May, 2001.

As a teenager, John served as a member of the Bay Ridge Ambulance Volunteer Organization’s Youth Squad, supported efforts of the Bay Ridge Parks and Waterfront Council, and was an intern in the office of Congresswoman Susan Molinari. John is a past recipient of the Kassenbrock Brothers Memorial Scholarship.

Upon his graduation from Adelphi Academy, John began working for civic activist Marty Golden in support of his 1997 election to the New York City Council.  In 1998, John joined the staff of Councilman Golden as a part time summer assistant, until his graduation from college. During his pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, John interned in the United States House of Representatives and with the NBC Show “Meet the Press”.

In June of 2001, John became a full time member of the staff of City Councilman Golden’s District Office. Presently, John serves as the Deputy Chief of Staff and Press Secretary for State Senator Marty Golden.

John Quaglione is a 2nd Degree Knight of the John Hughes Council, #481, of the Knights of Columbus.  He has previously served as a member of the Parish Pastoral Planning Council at St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church where he served on the Publicity Committee. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of St. Anselm Catholic Academy and the Co-Chair of the Brooklyn Committee of the March of Dimes.

John is a past recipient of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service from Adelphi Academy, and has been recognized by Heart Share Human Services for efforts to aid in the establishment of the Heart Share School, which serves children with Autism.  He has also been recognized with “The Larry Morrish Community Service Award” by the 3rd Avenue Merchants, and appreciation awards from the Guild for Exceptional Children and the Italian Board of Guardians. John has also served as “Principal for the Day” at his alma mater, Public School 48.
